are not here with us and that is the people of san francisco. for years before i joined the board of supervisors i served on with many volunteers the community advisory group to the central subway. with countless volunteers from the bay view, from visitation valley, from mission bay, south of market, union square, and of course thousands of residents and leaders from chinatown who went to countless public meetings provided tens of thousands of signatures, and stood for years to work extremely hard for world class transportation into the heart of our city, but we know we are building the central subway not just based on our history but for our future. by the year 2040 we will have 100,000 new households and 200,000 new workers and thousands of new daily car trips. we have to prepare for the future. let me close with a couple of quick thoughts. first i believe that our connecting community slogan it is real. we are the greatest city in the united states and we are an incredible city because our communities come together for our subway and for our giants. second, we have to do mo

the water system improvement project, unfortunately, we in san francisco, meaning lbes and many employees did not benefit from many of the job opportunities. and even at the tail end, what was given to us were jobs where nobody else could do it. and i can relay this project by project, and i have before harlan kelly, ed harrington, karen cubic, tyrone ju, and they kind of understand about this situation. now, what we have here is we have the hrc abruptly transferring compliance officers who deal with lb situations and other compliance officers to the city administrator's office. then you have you guys in the middle of the situation changing the rules without really getting the input from the lbes. nobody who is not a san franciscan should come here and say, i spoke to some lbes in san francisco and they kind of agree to go with the flow. that doesn't work. we don't want to badger sfpuc. but the fact is we lost on the waste system improvement project, and we were not, i repeat, not lose on the sewer system improvement project. because i have over 500 young men, i brought some of them here.

lane. >>> developing news out of san francisco. early morning chase and shooting and crash, left busy intersection closed. amy hollyfield is live in the western addition to tell us what happened. >> reporter: it ended here at franklin with a crash quite a reaction to police just trying to pull a white car over because officers say the light on the plate was out. the guys took off. there was a high speed chase then a crash when the car ran a red light at franklin and eddie. the white car crash food a taxicab. before they crashed police say the passenger was firing shots at the police officers. once the crash happened the two men took off, running. officers ran after them. they were able to catch one the shooter. the driver did get away. they are still looking for one man. police officers were okay, none hurt. the taxi driver was taken to the hospital. he has an injured hand. he's going to be fine. police say given how fast the guys were going it is amazing there weren't more injuries and the injuries weren't more serious. the investigators are here taking a look at the scene trying to
mirkarimi the suspended san francisco sheriff. the board of supervisors is voting on whether to remove him from office for good. cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington is in san francisco with more on what is at stake. good morning. >>> reporter: good morning. this case has played out for months at city hall and this decision a big deal because it could set the precedent for misconduct cases in the future. sheriff ross mirkarimi pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor relating to a domestic violence dispute that left his wife with a bruised arm on new year's eve. nine months later we could find out if he stays or if he goes for official misconduct. his wife eliana lopez showed her neighbor a bruised arm which you can see in this video after her husband grabbed her during an argument. mirkarimi was sentenced to three years' probation, fined and ordered to undergo counseling. he was also placed on unpaid leave by mayor ed lee. since then, mirkarimi has been fighting for his job. his attorney says that the marital incident has nothing to do with his role has sheriff and he was also voted in. mayor lee want

:30, san francisco's civic center transformed. the sport event generating a lot of money for the city and also a little controversy. >>> happening now, firefighters are reporting progress on their efforts to contain a wildfire near clear lake. the so called 29 fire started just before 3:00 this afternoon along highway 29 above a street in the community of lower lake. calfire say it is fire has burned 300 acres and there are mandatory evacuations tonight for the mercy spring subdivision. the fire has also downed some power lines. calfire says right now the fire is only 20% contained. but if there is some good news is that crews say they have managed to halt the forward spread of the fire. at this point there are no reports of any injuries. >>> firefighters near santa barbara say a fire burning near the hills there is fully contained. the fire burned near some homes yesterday but that is no longer the case. firefighters said they are confidence the flames will not spread any further in fact, they say they have no crews on those fire lines tonight. >>> we uncover a lighting problem on ba
